Martin Grelle

A great storyteller creates wonderful imagery, mood and feeling while transporting the audience to another time and place. Clifton, Texas, artist Martin Grelle uses his paintings to tell stories, capturing the essence of a moment and thoughtfully portraying the feeling and nature of his subjects. Martin’s body of work encompasses many aspects of the American West, conveying the spirit of the Native American way of life, the ruggedness of mountain men, the fur trade era, and the character of contemporary cowboy culture.

“I think one of the appealing things about this type of work is to be able to take people out of their everyday existence to another time and place when they look at it,” Martin says. “I hope people find as much meaning and feeling in the stories as I did while creating them.”
