Quarter Horse mare Little Ena ran with fury even while several months pregnant, so breeder Harold Christianson named the Appaloosa colt she carried Fury. Registered as Christi Fury, the chestnut colt by American Eagles Wyakin was foaled in New York on June 13, 1965.
Harold sold the colt to Jim Hughs of Clyde, New York, in 1967. The Hughs family created a permanent home for the stallion, whom they used primarily in speed events. Bred for racing on his dams side, Christi Fury lived up to his name in Appaloosa western games competition. He passed on his ability and speed to offspring who excelled in open, youth and non-pro games.
In 1972 Christi Fury claimed the World Champion Performance Appaloosa title after winning the Nez Perce stakes and Camas Prairie stump races with Terry Thompson aboard. The stallion holds registers of merit in three events: rope race, Camas Prairie stump race and Nez Perce stake race.
He also earned a superior event title in stakes and holds several Greater Eastern Appaloosa Regional (GEAR) superior horse titles. Beyond his success in western games, Christi Fury also earned GEAR certificates in western pleasure, English pleasure, western riding and trail.
Christi Fury sired 81 registered foals. They excelled in games and performance competition, earning a combined 33 registers of merit, nine superior event titles, one versatility championship, seven bronze medallions and seven superior achievement certificates. Twenty combined earned more than 1,500 performance points.
His highest point-earning foal Fury On The Loose, a 1985 gelding out of As Tikee Palouce, holds 460 points in games events. Other World and National champions by Christi Fury include Double Christi, Furys Apache Slam, Furys Hank, Furys Sun Apache and Christi Fury Rose.
