We Go Charges Appaloosa family includes more Racing Hall of Fame members than any other lineage. Five of Hall-of-Famer breeder Gene Miles horses hold spots on the Appaloosa Museums Hall of Fame wall, and We Go Charge is right in the middle of the family dynasty with her dam, Hall of Fame mare Wego Melody, at the top. Gene, of Witchita, Kansas, crossed Wego Melody, by Foggy Star (ApHC) and out of a Thoroughbred mare, with the Quarter Horse stallion Diamond Charge, producing We Go Charge in 1966.
Racing in 1968 and 1969, We Go Charge collected $9,581.26 in purse money and a 19-5-5-2 record. Her rookie season, We Go Charge won the Oklahoma Futurity and Centennial Juvenile Stakes. She went on to place third in the Anthony Downs Allowance and second in the Oklahoma Allowance during her 3-year-old season.
After 1969, Gene retired the mare to his breeding herd where she produced 12 foals and earned her bronze superior production plaque. Gene mainly crossed her with top running Quarter Horses, which produced bronze medallion winner Go Easy Lovin by Easy Jet (AQHA) and three Appaloosa Racing Hall of Fame foals: Scooter Bug G. by Lady Bugs Moon (AQHA); We Go Easy, the 2-year-old sprint filly in 1975 and 3-year-old champion in 1976, by Easy Jet; and Easy We Go, 2-year-old champion sprint colt for 1979, also by Easy Jet.
Eleven of We Go Charges 12 foals made starts at the track. Her produce includes seven winners, four stakes winners and four stakes placed. They earned a total of three registers of merit, four medallions, three championships and more than $280,000 in purse money.
We Go Charge died in April 1998 at the age of 32.
